OLYMPIC VALUES.
Three fundamental values are recognized that
define modern Olympism, which represent excellence, friendship
and respect.
-Excellence means bringing out the best version of yourself and
this goes beyond pure victory. Each athlete seeks excellence based on the goal
they set and must strive to exceed the proposed objectives.
-Then there is friendship, it is defending and strengthening the
ties between people and peoples.” Through friendship, a more peaceful
environment is promoted with competition, joy and optimism.
Lastly, the value of respect is related to playing a fair and clean game.
PARALYMPIC VALUES
Four concentrated values are recognized: Courage, Determination,
Inspiration, Equality.
•Courage: With their performances, Para
athletes show the world what can be achieved when you push your body to the
limit.
• Determination: Para athletes have a unique strength of
character that combines mental toughness, physical ability and exceptional
dexterity to deliver sporting performances that regularly redefine the
boundaries of the possible.
• Inspiration: As role models, Para athletes maximize their
abilities, empowering and motivating others to actively participate in sport.
• Equality: Through sport, Para athletes celebrate diversity and
demonstrate that difference is a strength. As pioneers of inclusion, they
challenge stereotypes, transform attitudes and break social barriers and
discrimination towards people with disabilities.
